The title says it all! These two cat loving Charlestonians hosted a wonderful celebration on April 29, 2017! After meeting them at a holiday party, I could not wait for this day to arrive – the happiness and candor that shows through in the images reminds me of why I love doing what I do 🙂 Check out the kitty cat slippers that Dave surprised with on the wedding morning – her reaction is priceless! This wedding has so many of my favorite elements: true love, a vintage trolley, the lovely Father Babu, extremely awesome family and wedding party members, a wedding dress with pockets, the influence of felines, our gorgeous state capitol, Winter Floral, and Mosa, the resident Amazon parrot at the Holiday Inn! Without any further adieu, lets dive in and enjoy this gem of a West Virginia wedding!!!
I had been looking forward to photographing Sasha & Gary’s April 22, 2017 wedding ever since we initially exchanged emails – these two have phenomenal personalities, beautiful & warm hearts, and one could never possibly find better people with whom to share laughs! Their fun love of life even involves the names of their cats, Reba & Barbara Jean 🙂 Prior to this wedding, I had not yet documented any events at Herot Hall Farms, outside of Charleston, WV. This venue is actually a blueberry farm and the landscape, especially in Spring, reminds me of imagery from Ireland. April weather is lively and often unpredictable – we endured a rainy beginning to the day and Sasha kept her cool, enjoyed her bridal preparations, and we made use of a very nice overhang with the cutest green doors as a backdrop for the first look and some initial bride & groom portraits. After nuptials under the tent, the weather started to clear and we were able to shoot more freely outdoors – the sunset was amazing!! I am known for loving details – all of Sasha & Gary’s reception tables were named after favorite love songs and I thought this was a lovely personal touch! A special shout out to the wonderful Winter Floral – always impeccable! I had a blast working alongside Colin Merritt of Colin Merritt Wedding Films – his energy and enthusiasm are contagious!! Nick Scott kept the dance floor blazing with his always perfect DJ skills – thank you, Nick, for keeping the crowd lively! Reception shooting is one of my favorite parts of the day and this crowd had a blast! Guests enjoyed photo booth action provided by The West Virginia Photo Booth Company – great creative use of the props, everyone!! I am so pleased to unveil this wedding and to give my biggest CONGRATS to the new Mr. & Mrs. Mack!!! A few of my favorites:
I had the absolute pleasure of documenting the wedding of Rachel & Kevin on April 8, 2017 at Green Valley Gathering Place in Bidwell, OH. This day was blessed with some of the most beautiful colors and superb weather that I have EVER seen! I was connected with Rachel via her cousin, Matt Reynolds, who is one of the most talented florists anywhere in the country – I often have the treat of capturing his artistry when working alongside Spurlock’s Flowers at many local events. Rachel & Kevin’s wedding is nothing short of a floral wonderland! I really liked the utilization of a globe in lieu of a traditional guestbook – friends and family signed names and messages on the globe when arriving to the ceremony and the end result was a creative display piece for the Law household. Another great detail that was fantastic was the “storm tracker” groom’s cake, paying homage to Kevin’s profession in meteorology! This wedding has a very warm, sweet, and family oriented vibe – Guests truly enjoying mingling with one another and the progression of day into evening was relaxing and happy. I loved our opportunity to slip out for some evening photos around the Green Valley grounds – the light and scenery were superb! I wish Rachel & Kevin the happiest hopes possible for a wonderful future and many exciting travels, adventures, and maybe a little storm chasing!!! 🙂 Some favorite highlights of this beautiful day:
Kate and Dave are a happy, fun loving pair of physicians who reside here in Huntington, WV. The first time I met Kate, I was immediately mesmerized by her tales of travel as well as her understanding of and appreciation for photography. I looked forward to their Maylon House wedding the entire summer and was nothing short of thrilled when, after the rainiest year ever, we snagged mostly beautiful weather! Each time that I review their photos, I love the relaxed feeling and natural flow of the day and people – Kate and Dave’s first look series is one of my favorites ever!!! A very special “Thank You!” to this couple as well as friends and family – now for some of my favorite moments:
